Biography
John Abner Kirby was born 7 July 1842 in Warren County, Kentucky, son of Wyatt Kirby and Elizabeth Graham. He married Sarah Johnson on 3 October 1872 in Jackson County, Missouri. He died in 1884 in Jackson County; his prior death is confirmed by the 1894 marriage license of his daughter Hettie Adeline Kirby, which names his wife Sarah as "the surviving parent." John Abner is the connecting link between the Kentucky Kirby line, descended from DAR Patriot Jesse Kirby, and the Jackson County, Missouri branch of the family.
