Biography
William Holt was born 19 July 1666 on Hogg Island, Surry County, Virginia, the son of Randall Holt Jr. and Elizabeth Hansford. He was only thirteen when his father died in 1679. He married Elizabeth Seward around 1699 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia. Their son Charles Holt continued the direct line to Drury Holt Sr.
William died 18 May 1726 and was buried at Lawnes Creek Parish Church Cemetery in Surry County. Note: his daughter Mary Seward Holt married into the Clanton family, the same family from which Drury Holt Sr.'s mother Abigail Clanton descended, indicating endogamy within the Surry County planter families.
