Biography
George Albert Vaughan was born April 3, 1812, in Mecklenburg, Virginia, the son of Woody Vaughan and Sarah "Sally" Baugh Farrar. He migrated to Jackson County, Missouri, where he married Minerva Gibson in January 1836 and raised a large family. In later life he relocated to Hill County, Texas, where he died March 8, 1889.
George is identified as "Albert Vaughan, Virginia" on his son Joseph Gibson Vaughan's 1918 death certificate, which corroborates the connection to Virginia. Note: James Washington "Woody" Vaughan (1805-1890) was George's older brother, not his father; early research conflated the two.
