Their Story
Catherine Therese was the first child born to Charles Edeline and Jeanne Braconnier in Longueuil, New France. Her mother was a Fille du Roi who had arrived from Paris only four years earlier; her father was also a Parisian transplant.
On 24 July 1697, at age twenty, Catherine Therese married Bertrand DeBluche dit la Serre, who had been born in Montaigu, Provence, France around 1675. They settled in the Montreal area and had at least four daughters.
Her daughter Marie Euphrosine DeBluche (b. 8 Sep 1713, Montreal) married Honore Louis Tesson on 13 October 1732 in Longueuil, connecting the Edeline line to the Tesson dit Honore family of colonial Missouri.
Catherine Therese died on 26 April 1715 in Montreal at age 38, when her youngest daughter Marie Euphrosine was only a year and a half old. Her husband Bertrand survived until 1720.
