Biography
Sarah Bell Harris was the daughter of James William Harris and his second wife Nancy Henry Harris, born in Bourbon County, Kentucky. She married Joseph Gibson Vaughan, a founding member of Quantrill's guerrilla band, around 1870 or 1872. Nine children were born to the marriage, of whom five were living at the time of her death; her son Walter M Vaughan carried the line forward to Roy Wallace Vaughan and ultimately to Doris Vaughan Fulghum. She died of chronic appendicitis and is buried at Oak Grove Cemetery alongside her husband.
