Biography
Silas Gibson was the son of John David Gibson of Laurens County, South Carolina and Simpson County, Kentucky. He appears in Simpson County, Kentucky census records from 1820 to 1830 alongside known siblings including Hugh Jacob Gibson (1781), John G. Gipson Sr. (1785), Jacob (1802), Joseph (1803), and John F. (1804). He and his wife Elizabeth Lane Gibson migrated to Jackson County, Missouri, where the family is enumerated from 1840 through 1860. His daughter Minerva Gibson married George Albert Vaughan in 1836, anchoring the Gibson line in the Vaughan family of Jackson County. Silas died in 1861 and no Find a Grave memorial has been located.
