Biography
Walter John Eggers Sr. was born on 14 September 1905, the eldest child of John (Johann) Henry Eggers and Amanda Anna Saul, who had married in St. Louis on 22 December 1904 after meeting at the St. Louis World's Fair.
Walter married Jean Hyatt (born Nettie Smothers) in St. Louis on 4 September 1929. Jean died in August 1930 from postpartum complications following the birth of their son Walter John Eggers Jr.; a twin was stillborn at the same time.
Walter later remarried to Miriam Cotton of University City, Missouri. They had two sons: Maury Cotton Eggers and James (Jim) Eggers. Walter died in 1949 of cancer.
