Biography
Lavinia Anderson was born 4 April 1789 in Warren County, Kentucky, the daughter of DAR Patriot Bailey Anderson and his wife Mary. Around 1804 she married Major William Kirby, son of fellow DAR Patriot Jesse Kirby, uniting two Revolutionary War families in Warren County. Lavinia died 6 December 1820 at age 31 in Warren County. William remarried the following year. Her son Wyatt Kirby carried both the Kirby and Anderson Revolutionary War lines forward to the Jackson County, Missouri branch of the family.
Note: The DAR application records her death as "6 Dec 1880," but this is a transcription error. William Kirby married his second wife, Clarinda Herrington Doak, on 19 September 1821, which would have been impossible if Lavinia were still alive. The correct year is 1820.
