Biography

Charles Jackson Samples was born 10 July 1828 in Greene County, Missouri to Charles Samples (b. 9 Nov 1792, Swords Creek, Russell County, Virginia; d. 28 Dec 1873, Clay County, Missouri) and Anna "Ann" Young Samples (1797-1857). Charles Sr.'s parents were William Samples (1770-1850) and Nancy Wilson Samples (1775-1859). He married four times over the course of his life; one of his wives was Mary Laura Taylor (b. 1838; d. 1866), with whom he had daughter Maude_Samples_Jones, born in Indiana in 1866. Mary Laura died the same year Maude was born. Charles eventually relocated to Colorado and died 11 September 1906 in Rocky Ford, Colorado.
